May’s Firm Update

I have made it a habit to send a newsletter to clients every two months this year, and I’m trying to keep it going. In order to be better about sharing more and more often, you’ll receive these two months behind if you’re not a client. If you’d like to learn more about becoming a client, book an appointment.

Hi and May the Fourth Be With You,

This month Mariah and I will be taking our honeymoon! As a client, this means that you may experience slower or less service from May 19th until June 3rd as we take time for ourselves. If you have an urgent needs, please text or leave a voicemail on my work phone number 919 200 0059 and I will respond as soon as possible. On the bright side, it means the next edition of this client newsletter will have a fun, scenic picture from Greece!

As another firm update, my book Informed Investing is now edited and is going to be released in June. This third book will focus on investing fundamentals and strategy. If you’ve ever had a conversation with someone who feels the market is too scary or doesn’t know where to start investing, this book is for them! It is by far my most in-depth book and an attempt to make each area of investing simple to understand.

In financial news, I’d like to share an article discussing “What’s Going On Right Now” as I’ve had plenty of conversations about the broader economy and political situation lately. While I’m no fan of the current leadership, the market is politically agnostic. As James points out in the above article, short-term volatility often goes up in times of geopolitical conflict, but it does not necessarily drive any long-term changes in return. Tl;dr – Just because we don’t like the political situation, war, and other factors does not mean that institutional forces driving the market will respond in the exact same way. It’s hard to make bets in a time of so much volatility, so we hold onto our diversified portfolios.

Lastly, to share some fun stuff we’ve been up to, I’d also like to introduce a segment…

What We’re Playing Right Now

The two of us are always excited about co-op games! From a board game perspective, Frosthaven has been a staple for us over the last few years. We have a recurring game night centered around it. I was also fortunate enough to try Twilight Imperium with some friends in April! What a fun (and long) experience!

For tabletop gaming news I also ran a one-shot based on Dr. Drohlin’s Dictionary of Dinosaurs. If you like D&D, I heavily recommend you check it out! It made the kid in me, who was absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs, very happy.

Let me know how you like this addition and tell me what you’re playing these days!

In Closing

If I can be of any additional assistance to you throughout the summer, please let me know. It’s a busy time for all of us, but I’m always here to help!
